11.18.2010 In conjunction with UN Human Rights Day on December 10th, Peggy will be honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Women's International League for Peace & Freedom, the Center for Constitutional Rights and the Center for Humanities.
Rhonda Copelon, a human rights lawyer, who passed away earlier this year, will also be honored at the event. Speakers include: Cathy Albisa, Meena Alexander, Ana Bozicevic, Charlotte Bunch, Roxanna Carillo, Robin Lloyd, Pamela Sneed, Blanche Wiesen Cook and Jerri Zbiral.
It will also be chance to celebrate Peggy's 92nd birthday, which is the next day.
11.4.09 In 2003 Peggy started working on a series of metaphorical paintings in response to a healing and spiritual program called The Twelve Steps. She linked the elements in the program to animal figures and spiritual icons to give these concepts a new and deep allegorical dimension. As a fundraiser for the film, we have produced The 12 Steps portfolio. These are high quality, archival pigment prints of each of Peggy's paint-ings in the series, as well as an introductory essay by musician, minister and mythologist, Rebecca Armstrong. The cost of the portfolio is $275.
As befits Peggy's love of songs of social justice, Never Turning Back takes its name from the renowned song by activist and award-winning songwriter/performer, Pat Humphries. The song has traveled around the world and entered the folk tradition, an achievement rarely experienced by an independent songwriter in her lifetime.
